WHAT IS NEUROPSYCHOLOGY?
Neuropsychology studies the structure and performance of the brain as they relate to specific psychological processes and behaviors.
Neuropsychological evaluations are sometimes required by the FAA for individuals with specific conditions such as a history of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, history of substance abuse, or medical conditions that can impact cognitive functioning. In some cases, a neuropsychological evaluation may be requested by an employer or insurance company to assist in determining fitness to return to work or to better understand cognitive issues associated with acute or chronic medical illnesses (e.g., traumatic brain injury).
